nomisma (numisma), atis, n. (νόμισμα), die Münze, das Geldstück, rein lat. nummus, I) eig.: A) im allg., Hor. u.a. – B) insbes.: 1) später = alte Münze, bes. ausländische, die schon in Rom mehr als Ware denn als Münze galt, dah. Münzstück, Schaumünze, Schaustück, ICt. – 2) die Marke, der Zahlpfennig, den die Ritter am Eingange des Theaters erhielten und wofür ihnen Wein usw. verabfolgt wurde, Mart. 1, 11, 1. u.a. – II) übtr., das auf der Münze ausgedrückte Gepräge, das Bildnis, Prud. perist. 2, 96.
