Bridge Loan

Eine Brückenfinanzierung (engl. bridge financing oder bridge loan) ist eine oft von Banken gewährte Bereitstellung von Finanzmitteln zur Finanzierung einer Transaktion (z.B. für den Kauf eines Hauses oder Unternehmens), die vergleichsweise kurzfristig ausgelegt ist (1-2 Jahre) und im Anschluss eine Folgefinanzierung benötigt[1]. Primäres Ziel ist die kurzfristige Bereitstellung von liquiden Mitteln zur Tätigung einer großen Transaktion mit der Maßgabe, nach Abschluss der Transaktion in Ruhe die besten Möglichkeiten einer langfristigen Finanzierung zu evaluieren und umzusetzen.

Beispiel

Wenn zum Beispiel ein Unternehmen eine große Akquisition tätigt, so stellen Banken oft die Finanzmittel für diesen Kauf in Form einer Brückenfinanzierung bereit. Nach 1 bis 2 Jahren läuft diese entsprechend aus wodurch der Kauf durch andere Finanzierungen gedeckt werden muss. Dazu sind unter anderem langfristige Kredite, Kapitalerhöhungen, Verkauf anderer Geschäftseinheiten oder Teile der Akquisition und Hybridanleihen möglich.
