DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 ist ein Tonformat, das von Digital Theater Systems (DTS) entwickelt wurde. In diesem Format können alle 6.1 Kanäle einschließlich des „SB-Kanals“ unabhängig voneinander aufgenommen werden. Da die einzelnen Kanäle unabhängig sind, kann deren Klang absolut frei gestaltet werden. Das DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 Tonformat basiert auf dem DTS-ES Surroundformat, dessen Klangbild durch das Hinzufügen eines zusätzlichen Surround-Back-Kanals („SB“) zum konventionellen 5.1-System erreicht wird.
