Linear

Linear, sich auf Linien beziehend, durch Linien darstellbar. Linear heißt auch die Gleichung der geraden Linie und demgemäß jeder mathematische Ausdruck, der wie diese in den Veränderlichen vom ersten Grad ist; daher die Bezeichnungen: lineare Form, lineare Transformation, lineare Differentialgleichung.
